The Scion xD debuted at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show and replaces the subcompact xA in the Scion
lineup. Sharing the same platform with the Toyota Yaris, the xD is a five-door hatchback just like the xA
but offers a more aggressive look and more power. The xD has nearly the same length and height as
the xA but it is about an inch wider and 3.6-inch longer wheelbase. Highlighted by a wide stance, thick
muscular body, accentuated wheel flares and large tires, the xD has a short and wide frame that is
designed to give it better handling and comfort.

New for 2008

The Scion xD is powered by a 128-horsepower 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 125 lb-ft of
torque—a 25-horsepower increase over the xA. Customers can choose between a five-speed manual
transmission and a four-speed automatic. The interior is fitted with front bucket seats and 60/40 rear
seats that can fold flat for more cargo space. In addition, the rear seats can slide fore and aft for
additional legroom, recline 10 degrees and can be adjusted into five different positions. The standard
160-watt Pioneer audio system features iPod connectivity and a mini-jack port and the music can be
controlled by the head unit or steering-wheel audio control buttons. Standard safety features include
four-wheel anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution and Brake Assist, six airbags, a first-aid
kit and a tire-pressure-monitoring system.

The xB is Scion’s boxy multi-purpose wagon and one of the two models that launched Scion as an all-
new brand for Toyota. Scion is geared towards the youth market, offering highly customizable vehicles
with generous standard equipment for a value-oriented price. Unveiled at the 2007 Chicago Auto
Show, the all-new 2008 xB is bigger in size but retains its distinct box-like styling. The wheelbase has
increased by four inches, the overall length is a foot longer, the overall width is almost three inches
wider but the height is more than an inch shorter. The interior features 60/40 split rear seats that fold
flat and the front seats fully recline for increased cargo space.

New for 2008

The 2008 Scion xB receives a huge power upgrade over its predecessor with a 158-horsepower 2.4-
liter dual overhead cam four-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing—the same engine found in
the tC coupe. The engine delivers 162 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm and it can be mated to a five-speed
manual transmission or a four-speed automatic with sequential shifting. Another upgrade over the
previous generation, the xB now rides on 16-inch steel wheels with larger brakes for more stopping
power. The interior offers a number of storage units, a driver’s right armrest has been added and the
audio system has been upgraded to include standard rear head unit outputs to allow external amps
to boost power to the front and rear speakers and subwoofers.

The tC is Scion's two-door sport coupe and the third model for Scion. The all-new brand from Toyota
that is geared toward the youth market. Scion offers vehicles with generous standard equipment for a
value-oriented price that are easily customizable. "The tC is the first vehicle developed exclusively and
strategically for the Scion brand," said Jim Farley, Scion vice president. The tC also offers the most
traditional styling of the three Scion models.

New for 2008

The 2008 Scion tC receives a minor exterior update with a new front fascia, projector-type low beam
headlights with black trim and rear taillights with round combination lights. The interior adds a deep
orange combination meter on the instrument panel, silver-colored accents on the door assist grips
and center cluster and updated seat fabric. An iPod connectivity is now standard and a new navigation
system features a 160-watt maximum power/audio/video/navigation unit with seven-inch LCD touch-
screen.
